Tanis Parenteau is a Métis/Cree Native American actress born in Peace
River, Alberta, Canada. She has extensive experience in film, theatre,
television, commercials, voiceover, videos, & print. Staying true to
an undying commitment to her craft, she has acquired her
Master of Fine Arts in Acting with the Class of 2011 at The New School
for Drama in New York City. During her short time in NYC she has already
begun a promising career and is making a name for herself in the
performing arts world and in the Indigenous arts community.
Tanis's other passion is strength training, nutrition and health. She
holds a Bachelor of Physical Education from the University of Alberta
with a focus in Physical Activity and Sport Performance. She is proud to
say she has graduated with both Wayne Gretzky ('00) and Tony Kushner
('11) who each received honorary degrees the same years she completed
hers.
Tanis lives out her passion for performing with tremendous support from
her family and with a duty to Louis Riel, who is quoted as saying, "My
people will sleep for one hundred years, but when they awake, it will be
the artists who give them their spirit back."
